the U-turn

staring at the ceiling my mind drifts off
I am reminded of the aching
that I felt when you walked away from me.

Funny, I used to think that
if you let your true love go
they would always come back to you.
Who said that?
I remember.....
You told me that didn't you?
That hot summer day we spent lingering
in each others lustful arms
our minds blurred by the physical attraction.
You whispered lovingly into my ear...
but words are cheap.
Knowingly, my heart accepted your sweet
loving words.
my mind, knowingly, accepted your lies.

my eyes focus on the two drops of rain
slowly racing down the window pane
looking for the end
looking for the future
not knowing that there would always be an end.
My mind slowly drifts off..
content and unafraid
of my mind drifting back to a dead end
drifting back to you.
