A foolish friend
I'll tell you one of my memories on love. It involved one of my friends,
Micheal, and his brother Tom. It was a hot day that day. Me and Mike were
playing at his house. He went to his mother's rose bush and picked on of the
flowers. He said he wanted to give it to a girl named Tabitha and ask her out.
As if on cue Tom and my brother, Nick, walked out of their house. Mike asked
if he could borrow Tom's bike. Tom had a better idea. Tom got on the bike and
Mike stood on the back pegs, one hand on Tom's shoulder the other holding a rose.
They started off towords Tabitha's house. They rode on the sidewalk while Nick
and I ran through yards.
This is where it gets good. Tom decided to quote a commonly run commercial
on motorcycle safty. He yelled over his shoulder "Lean when I Lean." He ment this as
a joke. Mike, not being to bright, leaned to his left. The bike swerved of
the sidewalk into the street. Luckily they didn't have to worry about getting
hit by any oncoming cars hitting them. Nope. All they had to worry was the
car sitting in front of them. The wreck that followed was spectacular, at least
from my point of view. No one was seriously hurt. Mike, though, stood up woth one
hand covered in blood. He opened his hand and started pulling out thorns.
In the end we got to Tabitha's house with a rose, a little damaged, bloody
clothes and Mike full of aches. I went up to knock on her door. One of Mike's
hands was covered in bandages and the other held a rose. I waited and knocked
again. I looked at him and told him that no one was home. He looked at me and
smiled and said we would come back later. We walked off, a rose in his hand.
We learned that love was worth any price.
