The Banishment

Unable to run.  Something's there.  Darkness.. spreading its fingers to
capture.  Can't breathe.  Can't move.  Eyes darting around, looking
for safety, shivering as fear flows through her veins in a cold river.
Shaking her head in despair, her mouth open in a silent, desperate plea for
help.  It's closer.  Gnarled cold fingers grasp her skin... 

A flash of warmth.  No.. wait. Who's calling my name?  The darkness 
recedes... banished by kisses heralding love. Her eyes, clenched tightly 
shut, flutter open... seeing through the dream haze.. her beloved. Sighing,
a last shudder ripples through her frame, "I had a nightmare."

A soothing shhhh through his lips, as he enfolds himself around her.
"I'm here now, baby" whispered into her ear... as he tucks the night away,
his arm around her.  Fingers entwined.  His, hers, his, hers. 

Linked... together... Warding off the darkness of once being alone.
