Fool Am I

In my heart I’ve always been a fool
Full of so many things people think are uncool
I hope it’s true love I’ll one day find
Even in a world that’s anything but kind
I live to see the beauty in all things
And I bask in the light that they all bring
I see beauty coming from the inside; that’s true
But that’s what I see whenever I look at you
I don’t know how or why this could be
I just know that you mean a lot to me
When I look into your eyes, my heart skips a beat
It’s surely enough to knock me off my feet
I write all this because I want to know you more
Is that not what we all live for?
What I really want is to take you out
To find out what you’re really all about
I didn’t know how to ask without being cute
I hope you find this poem to be a hoot
Please say “yes” and make my day
My dreams wouldn’t have it any other way
What I have in mind is a non-intrusive lunch
It’d give us time to talk and also time to munch
If you say “no”, I might have to cry
I’ll probably feel like I’m about to die
I’ll get over it, and I’ll move on
But inside my heart, you’ll never be gone
For a fool I am, and a fool I will always be
Just please say that you’ll have lunch with me
