Departure

I should have known the agony of saying goodbye
I look at you, so close to me now
And I shall remember the way you are -
So proud and perfect: you've been mine
I itch to touch you again
To make a sculpture of you with my bare hands
Secretly adore it in a place called memory
More sudden than it came, our time is over
I am to leave, with love
The very love you've denied me
I bury all my anguish in our last kiss
Finally let the steps without rythm carry me away
The treasured happiness burn into grey smoke, lingers
This heart still only knows how to pray for you.
