Emotion

As I stand and stare into the darkness,
Feeling the heat of the day slowly seeping into the night.
A hundred miles of lonliness,
Weighing heavy on my heart.

I look to the stars,
Hanging in the sky like a soft sprinkling of diamonds upon black velvet.
And I'm thinking of her,
Imagining her gazing upon them also,
From where she is, so far, far away.

And they become bright sentinels of hope,
Blazing beacons where our thoughts can touch,
Somewhere in the deep black sky.
Our love forging a link across the void,
And we are together,
Even though we are apart.
