You drive my pen

The power of this pen 
is sometimes its impotence
When I believe for 
even a moment that
the depth of my heart
and the breadth of my mind
can be circumscribed in ink
that is when I fail
as your lover
My love must be demonstrated -
a car taken out for a test drive by your heart
every day to make sure
it is still shiny and new
And this car has no 
odometer...  no one knows 
how far it can go.
