Vanity
Is that all it is?
Am I just a vain artist?
Fishing for compliments?
I've mulled it over
And while that might be
It seems like more

I feel dismissed
Misunderstood
Unappreciated
Sending you my words
Sending you my voice
So hopeful they will touch you

But they don't
No response
Or "that's nice"
Not what I had hoped for
Does that mean I'm vain?
Or you're callous?
Or something between?

I no longer know
I only know
How much it hurts me
