Perfect Clarity

It was one of those perfect moments
as we were driving down Pacific Coast Highway with the
radio turned up and the world tuned out
we had no where to go
we were just drving
and I remembered, as I glanced over at him,
the time he told me that when we were together
I made everything perfect
and at that exact moment
with the moonlight falling on his face while I watched him mouth the words
to that song
I completely fell in love with him
the kind of pure love that keeps parents awake at night
worrying about their little girl getting hurt and then
suddenly
everything we had ever been together
made sense
and I understood that the person I had been looking for was
in front of me all along
we stopped at the beach and perched ourselves casually on the edge
of the lifeguard tower and we talked about nothing and about everything
and I wanted to tell him that I loved him
but I was too scared of ruining our perfedtion
so I just smiled and sighed and hugged him
and told him that when he was with me
he made everything perfect.
