Without You
The rain falls softly upon the windowpane
washing away the memories of you.
This empty house,
my empty heart
are all that remain of our dream.
When you left, all the colors ran out
of my paint-by-number life.
The empty canvas still hangs
upon the empty wall.
The sun has since stopped rising.
The moon no longer glows.
Now that you’re gone, the world’s stopped turning,
and the wind no longer blows.
The trees are bare,
but not as bare as my soul.
All day long, I fall into the open wounds.
Will you ever come back?
Can I see you again?
Just one hug will see me through.
The memories...the dreams
that come every day,
can never replace you.
