the bitter sweetening
gravity kept me planted
but you kept me floating
into the thin air
above the low clouds
and pieces of cotton
that poured and washed away
all the wounds torn open
you kept me soaring
touching the stars
not afraid of the ground
not afraid of the darkness
(you were my darkness)
you kept me believing
hoping the pain was over
leaving the past behind
burying the sorrow
and when the rainy season
swallowed us whole
you kept me floating
you kept me
until you left me
you buried me
in the landslide
of lies you told me
you left me drowning
but gravity kept me planted.
