First Light

First light,
a long thin bright line on the edge of the eastern horizon.
At the exact place where the Atlantic meets the sky and land,
I am here once again, standing alone on the sand at dawn.
While warm water is lapping at my toes,
I'm lost in early morning dreams.
Slowly, lovingly, I speak your name.
Every letter, one by one my tongue lovingly caresses,
as it's sweet sound leaves my lips, escapes,
becomes a whisper on the wind.
It mingles for a moment motionless, then moves, takes wing.
And with it the love in my heart takes flight.

It is done for another day.
One of many days that has come before,
and maybe for endless more to come,
I've again fulfilled the wishes of my heart.
I declared myself to Spirit then,
I asked this of Him, while praying to the vastness of the morning sky.
That He would grant you a day of peace and happiness,
starting at first light, as it reaches your eastern horizon, to my west.
And I do this in His name,
with all this love for you that lives within my heart.
