earthly delights

    dirt under my fingernails
      I love the greasy mechanic
     in the auto parts shop
        in the barrio
  I think about a frolic
          a frolic in the rain

nails sloppily polished
  I love the starving artist
 who frequents the cafe
     downtown
   I let him paint me
     sky blue
  in my mind

Daddy types scare me
 who do they think
    they are
reminding me of a man
  I worshipped from afar

I want to run red lights
 with boys
who won't grow up
  who stay right
   where they are
and devote their days off
  to earthly delights
(and that includes me)
