do me a favor

do me a favor
stop acting like you care
the hypocrisy is killing me

i had just gotten used to
your not being around
getting you out of my head

had a "Sliding Doors moment"
my strap caught in the bus seats
i made it home a half-hour late

to find that you'd left a message
saying that you'd call back tonight
or if not then, tomorrow

i was angry because it was so late
and yet happy that you must care
i waited at home two nights

and of course, you didn't call back
then or the next week
leaving me the fool- again

why did you bother
when i thought you were gone
to stir me up again?

so do me a favor
and don't call again
unless you actually want me

or if there's a next time
i may just scream at you
and then hang up
