Your parents shouldn't be here

You watch with an enamor of unshakeable calm,
Your invisible semi-omnipotent enemies strut.
I fume, unable to help you in this, or any realm . . .
Because whatever happened to "No matter what"?

Where are wished upon numberless stars?
And contrived fairy-tale endings?
When you only have to dream just so hard.
They're not real, but they're cruel enough to keep pretending.

I can only be angry at what I don't understand.
So I scream to the wind "How can you do this?!"
And "Put the blame on me! . . " because if you don't I can't -
Can't change to turn everything alright which is amiss.

It's worst when everything's wrong and nothing's right
But no one will let you squirm away from the fight.
