Our Love (an illusion)

  I came
  I saw
  I shunned
Your Primal
  Passions
Your Tribal
    Wars
Your Liberal
   Views.
We were no good
    2-gether;
We did not fit.
I was the firmament
    you were
   the ground
and all the trees and lakes
      and gila monsters
  knew
     we could never
         intertwine,
             not even with
 our bravest, bloodiest
 most far-reaching
                efforts.
I am stuck in the sky,
though I long to lie in the verdant meadows
      of your cool logic
          and confident
                sense of
             knowing
      that life goes on.
 Together we were apart.
     Apart we wish that we
      could be together.
     Oh, silly children.
The moon you see in the water
       is only a reflection-
     it is not a fish
     it can't be caught.
Our love is an illusion...
  not the Answer
    we sought.
