Love slips out the back door
Restless
something lacking
the tincture of the lens shatter
startled me
four months of constant company takes its' toll sweetheart
Don't deal well with being ignored
or maybe have grown accustomed to sweet things whispered in my ear
unexpectedly
chilling the oil
before you ladle my feet into the stealth of your fingers rub
after a defeating day of mindless moneywork.
Disillusionment
never falls on deaf ears my darling
fuels cruelty
and all the black arts are employed
Did you see the warning when I avoided your eyes in crowded company?
Designated a spot far from you in the company of friends
Neglected to squeeze in a smoke break
piled all of your laundry in the yard
girls night out all weekend
didn't darken my door until the last moment before morning
the alarm clock has taken permanent residence next to the couch
And that's where I'll be
if you don't pay attention.
