Lost Love

Why, dear, did you leave me?
Why didn't you just stay?
I know you said you were busy,
But really, it's okay. 

I would have stayed around for you,
Regardless of how long.
I really fell in love, 
But did you? I assume I was wrong. 

Many long nights went by, 
Crying, I knew you were gone,
I knew that you weren't there anymore,
And I knew that I must move on.

I substituted others for you, 
None of which truly the same.
Always in the midst of good, 
I would recollect your game.

Did you realize what you did to me?
Did you know that you hurt me so?
Blinded by love I could not see;
You were aware, I know.

When you left, you took a piece of me, 
Never to be returned,
Regardless, countless times I fell back in love with you,
And I think I would have learned. 

Never will you leave my thoughts,
Memories will remind me,
Of all the good and bad we shared,
And how you always seem to find me.
