Sunrise
I gazed out of my window, glistening with frosty dew,
and set my eyes upon the sunrise, my thoughts turning to you.
From lofty blues to dampered greys, to ambers like fine grain,
like billowed swirls of smokey soot behind a speeding train.
Pinks appearing at the rise, yellow cascades of light,
reminding me of your sweet touch, and the love we had tonight.
Brightness shouting 'cross the sky, sending shots of prism cloud
turning violet, then the break of sunlight filtered proud.
Outlining the world I set to foot, to join another day
with thoughts of you still floating within my heart to stay.
'Tis a beautiful way to mark my path, to set my face to right.
For the dawning brings me closer....to you and another night.
