Darkness

Love blinded me
I could not see
Was shadowed by the tender glow
My feelings, though, I could not show.
My dreams and hopes
On sharp, steep slopes
Slid away into the dark
And made an ever-present mark
On my memory's littered floor
They're gone, for now, forever more.
The pain and sorrow swallowed me,
Deep inside, I could not see
T'was not my mind that fell apart,
But, rather, was my broken heart.
