Devastated By You
(Sequel poem to: "Raptured By You")
No person on this Earth
could ever look down upon me
and scathe me with slander
that could invoke within me
the despair that overtakes
my heart and soul
when you stand before me
and tremble with hate in your eyes.
Words cannot describe,
not even scrawled in blood,
the feeling that consumes me
when you push me away
and I find myself outcast
into the depths of sorrow,
freezing from the wintry draft
that emanates from your cold shoulder.
Crying, no matter how despondent,
even if it came from a dying child,
could never impress upon
my ears a sound so formidable
to cause my heart to break
as the brutal discord
of your uncompassionate voice
when you callously scorn me.
Lamenting and forlorn,
I am silenced by this love.
