Unconditional

You entered my life
without being invited
and what am I to do
with what has been
offered and taken back
I swallow my pride
every time your near
because I have found
something I love in
the realm we’ve made
Our voices
poetically embrace
in the moment we speak
to each other
and the words release
my heart with an expensive price
I would suffer if it was lost
I’m flustered with
the way it blends with
the reflection
in my mind
and when we move
to hold each other
our bodies communicate
in the pattern of music
and in that rhythm
a moment spared
I start to understand
it all too well
a melody so sweet
yet so disturbingly sad
and it all tells a story
of love and hate
of being to early
and then to late
A creation
of love
so much deeper
than poetry and music
in an passion they
could never give
but my soul
knows it
and tells my
heart and mind
not to encourage the fire
don’t give it to much
control
I would burn
as you held me in your hand
and you would scatter the
ashes all over
and I would lose
even if it were something
so much more winning
than you may ever know
I’ll be the one
you let slip away
I will have been the one
who taught you
what unconditonal
was made of
