another doorway

Sick to my stomach, I stumbled into a doorway to get out of the rain. It was a
nice doorway, looked sturdy, solid construction, smelled of pine or cedar,
Hard to tell with my cold. Chilly outside with the rain.
Wet, soaked through to the bone. Comfortable though, good shelter.
Reminded me of the security of a new relationship… the warmth from
inside-against the door-made me forget how I ended up in the rain. A short
period had passed.. Noticed an annoying chill down my neck, small
imperfection in my doorway. No longer a shield, letting reality in. Starts to realize,
not as perfect as I first thought. Reality is getting colder, wetter.
Might as well be in the rain. Time to move on, thanks for the comfort, the warmth.
Relationships like doorways, just because you are caught in the rain, doesn't mean some shelter will keep you dry.
