Every Love

Many loves have I been through,
and every one is strong and true.
I wish not for what others have,
only what I once gave back.
For many loves have I been through,
and Every Love, my dear, is you.

Many stages now have passed
my time alone arrives at last.
But if you shed a tear for me,
that drop becomes a raging sea.
And for all the loves that I have known;
Upon that sea I gladly drown.

It folds me in the numb abyss
and whispers of the chance I've missed.
But the sea, at times, is known to lie,
to bedazzle the unsuspecting eye.
For as I peer into the black
my every love is looking back.

Love's mouth turns up in sweetened smile,
and says, "I've been here all the while!"
The sea is dry, the sky is clear.
Happiness at last is near.
But sadly I must not stay,
for sunrise has brought another day.

I struggle from this paradise,
with still the fragrance of the spice
upon my nose and in my head.
Alas, my lungs can still pull breath.
And again tonight I will return home,
To every love I've ever known...
