Safety Glass

You're just beyond the window pane
I can see you quite clear:
standing THERE looking at me
standing HERE so near
Silhouetted by the light 
of artificial means, I lurk...
...in awe as you're bathed in nature's beam!

You're aglow with life...and more
there's a twinkle in your eye
that long ago diminished
from the teary midst of mine

The aura that surrounds you
is one of MIGHT and DARE
and out of reach of those too meek
to require their fair share

If placed beside my crumpled form,
you would tower ever high 
and shadow any golden-light
I perchance do find

But, here I can linger safely
behind this pane of glass,
and sample all the goodies
while my soul remains intact!
