Illusions
Today I pulled my jacket out of the closet
the one you used to wear
and as I slipped it on
your sweet perfume filled the air
Then in an instant, vivid and clear
the memories came rushing back
of this time last year
Entranced by your beauty
and taken by your charms
I was unaware of the danger
that lie within your arms
You were full of life, so much fun
and with words like sweet honey
you made me feel I was your only one
Placing my hands upon your hips
softly kissing me on the lips
Your hand gently stroked my face
then you invited me to your place
And though I knew that it was wrong
still my desire was much too strong
So I allowed my heart to take a chance
and together we danced the lovers dance
but the love we made soon would fade
it lasted but a season
for just a few weeks later
you left without a reason
but I realized in the end
that we were barely even friends
These days it seems real love is rare
I wonder if anyone really cares
People don't stay together anymore
instead they run around like whores
Deceiving the heart, messing with the head
anything it takes to get you in bed
One day they make your world stand still
the next they seek a bigger thrill
Nothing ever changes
it all remains the same
I guess I'm just another
victim of the game
