The Song

I sit here at the computer listening to your music
And although I have never shared these songs with you
Somehow through listening to them I am brought closer and closer to you
The miles slowly diminish and I see your smiling face and bright eyes
And I remember as you looked down at me laughing while you talked
I remember our times in Mississippi, I recall the smells, the weather, what you wore
Yet the memory isn’t even real for I never was there with you listening to this song
But somehow it remains vivid and I know that I was there with you,
In your thoughts and dreams while you listened
