This Thing Called Love

This thing called love, which so many have taken for granted
Do you think they realize what love really can mean 
It can be said in three short words, I love you
Yet the way they are spoken can make them so beautiful or so empty
But the best part of an I love you is the unspoken one
Where with a simple look, the world has been laid before you
That is the look I see in your eyes, and knowing what I know about love
I pity those who see it as common and consider it easily found
For there is nothing easy about love, and no one said it was always fun
But the idea of that perfect someone makes everything else seem trivial 
Especially when you look at me that way, the way that catches my breath and drops me to my knees
