Tonight's Past

You called tonight and I was gone, driving, no destination in mind
For how can I sit here and be lonely, when you are out, nowhere to be found
I hate the helplessness of not knowing, of wondering, of worrying
Yet do you even realize what you’ve put me through, do you even know
Always the same, night after night, I lie awake watching the minutes pass by
Thinking that once morning comes, you’ll be there waiting to explain
But as always, you are not and I wonder what excuse you’ll give this time
