Too Bloody Much

love is just so much clean-up
so much scrubbing away
      covering up
so much Lysol
Spray-n-Wash
 so many trips to the
     laundromat
love is just so much apology
so much angst multiplied
so much whatever
    gratitude for the spankings
      tears wasted
on things his daddy
   did to him
  when he was four
drama created
   over things she did to
  her first lover
 when she was seventeen
  all of this for absolution
  an honest touch
 love is just
    too bloody much
