For You

  I haven't met you yet
   maybe I never will
    still, this poem for you
       from my heart
        just in case

    always I was
   the dreamer with stars in her eyes
     always I am
    hoping for something more
     longing for a purity
       a truth
     I still haven't found

   I don't know what I can
       offer you
     I don't have much
    a lot has been given away
    a lot has been lost

 but I still believe I deserve union
   with someone like you
     someone who can see the wistful little girl
      inside the broken woman
        someone who can see my light
         and not ask me to dim it

 I will wait for you
  praying, growing
 doing all that is required
  to improve myself
  and save what is left
and if we find each other
  somehow, sometime
 on this strange, mad planet
    my arms will be open
     and you'll know me
      by my smile
