genesis

one weird warm moment
   your eyes
dialing my heart
  how i wish 
 i hadn't been home
   but i was
  and so the buzz
      began
 from the beginning
   I wanted to believe
     in you
     in us
   it was too perfect
  pictures of us as seven year olds
    in my purse
   me walking away
     looking back
  to see you
       watching me go
  I know
   there's so much
 water under
     the bridge
  but I don't care
   and I'm not
      afraid
  I'll just hold onto you tightly
      as the waters rise.
