Heartbreak?

Impossible to understand how someone
you are not completely in love with 
someone you have just met
can break your heart
the ache in me is quite real
but it is not my heart that breaks
it is hers…  
I sense the tears  
even before the awareness of them, 
even before she has named them  
I can feel their force, as
a wave washing over me, flowing out of the 
computer screen and drowning me in the
sorrow of another…
Empathy is not always fun
sensing and knowing more that I probably should
but mine is the broad
shoulder to cry on 
a burden heavy to bear
but I have chosen 
have been chosen
to bear it
