Just a Smile

I saw you again today. You looked tired, morose. I wanted to smooth those
worry lines away, and make you smile one more time. God, when you smile. I
don't know how to describe it. Your lips curl up ever so slowly and those
dimples appear. I feel as if the entire world is suddenly upon your lips and
you are giving it to me. My heart and stomach turn, melt, and become mush
all at once. I know you do not love me. I know you probably have a girl who
sees that smile every day and knows it is for her. But, even in my
disillusionment I believe. Even if she walked through that door right now and
you never noticed me again, I would always have your smile. Thank you for
letting me feel love, see a possibility, and to hope for a higher dream.
Thank you for brightening the world. Even with just a smile.
