Here now, I am.
Eyes, smiles, laughter…
…from the TV.
I can’t deal. Turn it off.
Silence and my mind…
…stray towards her again.
I can’t deal. I’m outta here.
And the city is embraced.
Minutes later, anywhere,
after an agonizing ride.
I find placebos.
New and familiar faces.
As long as they smile,
it doesn’t matter.
“A vodka martini, please.”
And a drink is embraced.
Somewhere out there,
Eyes connect with hers.
Smiles exchanged with her.
Laughter spent with her.
Friends are made with her.
And for lucky her,
hearts quiver,
And she is embraced.
“Another vodka martini, please.”
