clearing the way
budget 3-15-99
my winter started
as a slow parting of souls
undetected to a untrained heart
walls are built to protect against
the frigid wind
pretending to be likeable
as the truth of the deepening snow
blinded me to a life gone unfufilled
finally the blizzard hits
and the walls cannot hide the pain any longer
we flee
outside of the walls that contained the the heat of two
i search for the sun and the warmth of many
only to find no one
for many have left this place of hardship
sucsessfully finding a place of peace
the ones who stayed are still behind their walls
there is much work to be done
to make my way to a place
where the ice has melted
focused shoveling forms my path
sometimes a strong wind blows a drift into my walk way
and i must retreat north to clear it again
the colder air freezes tears to my face
but without my return
the path won't be clear
tears from encounters when
my path crossed with others
also stuggling to warm the heart
body heat melted icey veins
into these tears of joy
niether being strong enough to form a path for two
we part
learning a lesson and guidance to my place in the sun
