Intimacy

Confusion and dismay
confession and doubt
are constant and intimate
common and familiar
complete and permanent.

I indulge the modest hope
revert back to my first impressions
I have not the influence you believe
but the most formidable problem
arises from the question
that manifests within us all.

Think of cool disregard
being understood
if i may boldly ask
of general counsels
with their generalizations
about love
and youth of the soul.

A wordless farewell
after a moment of reluctance
agitated and enthralled by fantasy
i fall away
into serene immobility.
