Because of you

Because you were kind to me
I fell in love.
Because you were open
I learned to be honest.
Because you were firm
I learned to respect you.
Because you trusted me
I learned to trust you.
Because you loved me
I learned to be strong.
Because you listened to me
I learned to be patient.
Because you believed in me
I learned self respect.
Because you saw the good and bad in me
I learned to tell the difference.
Because you were there for me
I've learned to be a better friend
Because you held my hand
I learned to stand tall.
Because you took the time to know me
I learned myself.
Because you left me
I found my weaknesses.
Because you hurt me
I found my inner strength.
Because of you so many things have changed.
But life without change isn't life at all.
And life without a broken heart
is life without lesson.
