The day off?

Some times I think
love sucks
You hold out your heart
for everyone to see
like flyers near the door 
“TAKE ONE”
the sign says

Some take them home
stick them on the refrigerator
with pictures of their kids
to be read every so often
but drifting through memory

Then there’s always
someone it seems
looking for new
toilet paper -
to wipe themselves with 
these pieces of a heart
not a good use for mine,
but so it goes

Except for the love of my friends
I’d take today off
from love…
