Fresh and Different
What is different
about loving you this day
than it was yesterday
Yesterday was a couple of hours ago
and yet the whole world has
spun like a drunken
carousel out of mindless control
and perhaps into something more useful.
What is it that we might
construct with these building blocks
of despair, these toys of changelessness
What kind of love is there in that?
Not the kind I would swear
an oath of fealty to
Just this - my love as it grows
For every day is different
and fresh and new
as long as I am loving you inside it
