Honesty

I can be naught else but honest with you,
For if perchance some lie would light upon
My lips, if I would utter words untrue
In your direction, my soul would scream so
Loudly that you could not but hearken to
It’s righteous indignation. Then knowing
My voracity on this was lacking,
You would ask, "What else is he not showing?"
And this would bring to question in your mind
Everything that I have said in growing
This relation that means so much to me.
And thus to you I must speak honestly,
Since I, my love, can ill afford to part
With my best friend, my honor and my heart.
