My Muse
I try to treat as casual my verse
When I present it here for you to read,
With talk of rhyme and meter try immerse
My deep emotions and my inner need.
But I’m aware such actions cannot hide
My feelings from you. Never could you miss
That I my very soul in you confide
Each time I pen a sonnet such as this.
And never are the words I write so true
As when you pluck them gently from my heart
Then place them in a poem that’s made for you,
The only one for whom I create art.
Though I could try hide part of me from you,
My verse, it would betray. You would see through.
