what she's got

A fancy restaurant;
the couple behind us
is completely
oblivious to everything
around them.
I see him want her
with his eyes
and his smile.
You can almost see
the little hearts
dancing aroud their heads.
You look at me
like I've just shot your dog,
and I've yet to see
a smile today.
I sense the tuxedoed waiter
standing over my shoulder.
Softly I say
"I'll have what she's having."
