Santa Hat Man

I don't sit on your lap,
but I'm close enough to,
close enough for you
to gently rub my leg
as we chat like the two
intimate friends
that we are.
And you in the Santa hat.
I don't have to tell you
what I want for Christmas-
you know,
and therefore I don't say it.
I've been good.
We've been good together,
so why verbalize something
better left unsaid.
What we share is
magical,
as magical as any
Christmas morning
that I can recall.
You fill me with the wonder
that I almost thought
was lost.
In your eyes
and under your touch
I have nothing left to wish for.
