SCRABBLE

    Sex was a hex
      a spell
    "The Check's in the Mail"
      -that sort of thing

  He bought a ring
   but I never saw it
   if there was a problem
   you know I caused it
   but the Sex, now that was something altogether Different
     Set Apart
  distinguished from the rest

I atest to moments of Much Good
    when it was Understood
  that he was a man
  and I was a woman
   and we were together
  and nothing else mattered
  there was flesh
  there was fantasy
  there was So Much contained
    in us
 in his bed
   a Universe of Wanting
  desire depleted

and now I am seated at this computer
 in the library
at Southwest Texas State University
  in San Marcos, Texas
alone and happy and once again myself

I wish I was simple
but I'm simply Complex
and I don't miss much
  no, not his touch
  it was always just so much
     sex.
