The Ride

How could we expect others to know 
What we do not always see in ourselves?
The heart takes its own paths and leads us,
blindfolded,
into wonderment and despair.
How could it be otherwise?
To love is to experience the fullness of life
At its most intense.
To love is to be overwhelmed with the
beauty and the passion of giving love to another
and in being overwhelmed by the beauty and grace 
of their love in return.
It is like taking a giant roller coaster ride
the anticipation and breathlessness of the climb
the twists and turns of truly outrageous fortune
the rounding of the curves toward the unknown
but at reaching the top of that largest drop, 
the abject fear of losing it all
mixed with the mad rush of excitement at having reached the summit
and the knowledge that the next time we round this apex
the ride will excite us even more...
I love going along for the ride my heart takes me
because it has brought me so deeply into love 
with you...
