When We Fight

I try so desperately to keep my erratic heart tough.
Crusy on the joints
Hard, resilient outside
All I crave is for you to care
Enough to dig out a pic ax
To make the effort
To chisle at the stone

But my facade is so much sturdier than I
It takes only a tap...
A smile...
A hug...
And my defense crumbles to a pile of vulnerable sand
