Grail

I've spent my life
Searching
For that holy grail
Of love
Spurred on by
The tantalizing
Possibility of it
That the myth is real
Not just the stuff of legends
That it is out there
Hidden yet waiting
That cup of love
That I too would drink from

In a sense
I've had my own revelation
I have seen that grail
Shining in the night sky
Beckoning me
With the vision
Of perfect love

Yet upon entering the castle
I found
That it was merely
A cruel trick
That someone had set alight
A grail shaped beacon
Ethereal
Instead of solid
The symbol
Instead of the flesh

Bad, naughty Zoot...
