lightning
an electric rythm beats into the dim dinnerlight atmosphere of my being tonight
some simple latent banging that pushes life further
echoing through wind and rain
gust by gust, drop by drop
cascading and parading, as if mocking my thoughts
constant rythm...enough to be admired by any clock
mechanism
it was enough...feeling
heartstrings strummed without effort by her
it was enough
but i, in my moment, was foolish enough to believe i was right
to see black and white
and ignore grey and it's shadows
in a circumstance of timing, pride, and justification, i spoke
spoke clear
spoke without remorse
and committed what now i see as premeditated murder of a heart
she, a subtle harmless beauty, the likeness of a soft rain
and i, a dark cloud, poised and pressured
extremely accurate with my lightning
and extremely sorry for using it
reminded now, with every beat
of that which i destroyed
of her, whom i love
her eyes define me now as a stormcloud
i define me as a stormcloud with a conscience and bad judgement
but, a stormcloud nonetheless
