Memories

I went for a walk the other day
   I walked the trail
you and I used to walk
    before you left.
The dirt trail
   Where the maples hang
over our heads and I watched
the shadows run across your face.

I walked past the bench
   where we talked for hours
The one where you told me
you believed in love at first site.

And as I walked past the picnic table
where you first told me I was
beautiful
  I began to cry.

I turned my back to the memories
and I ran.
But, I couln't run any longer
 I didn't want to.
I stopped and leaned up againt
   the cold stone wall.

As the tears ran down my face,
   I realized,
It was here that we had
   our first kiss.

I took a step back
   smiled and remembered
how I felt our last night together
   Last summer,
   When I realized,
I loved you.
